Finally finished with my undergraduate studies in NUS with one final exam of HCI on Wednesday. There was a momentary sinking feeling when I thought “hey, there’s no more exams, no more studying from here on”. There was no more deciding which school to go to and so on. But then, Sue Anne told me that working is another phase of learning as well. I guess that is true. At work, I would probably need to pick up a lot of new things along the way, probably go through some small little tests on the way as well.
I just went to Rovisys today. Wu drove us to Abbott to go through some simple safety training so that they could start to make badges for us to use in future when we go on site when we truly start work. On the way there and back, we got some insights on what exactly we’ll be working on. Momentarily, we’ll be put under this Abbott project then maybe if other projects needed some help then we’ll be doing stuff there as well. Going to the company always gets me excited about the propestive job I’ll be working on when I start in June. I guess meanwhile I will just enjoy my vacation first.
I have been going out after my final paper. In fact, I’m probably busier (going out) than when I was (studying) prior to exams. On the final day, I went off with Kok Loon and Tai Wen to eat some Thai food and walk along the Esplanade towards Marina Bay Sands. We managed to catch the light shows at 2 different times and 2 different angles. One was from the Esplanade where we could see the lights from Marina Bay Sands Hotel as well. The other was right in front of the Marina Bay Shopping Complex where we could see the fountain show similar to the Suntec Fountain of Wealth (which I don’t know if it’s still functioning now). Personally, I thought that the fountain was more pretty to watch and we could also hear the music clearer (pretty loud) from there. Thinking of bringing my family there to watch it when they come for my commencement.
And yesterday I went out for almost 12 hours (from 10 to 10) to Fort Canning Park. It was pretty interesting to go to the Battle Box there where they kind of re-enacted the situation when the British surrendered to the Japanese. Also, I realized that our student pass was pretty useful, using it for discounts at the Battle Box as well as the cinema where we caught the latest cinema show “The Lost Bladesman”. It was a pretty interesting show because the characters involved were from the China History and I kind of could recognize them because recently we played the “Sanguosha” card game and they were there as well. :p So, the card game is pretty educational as well. Makes me interested in knowing the real story in the China History. But, too bad my Chinese isn’t that great so reading the Chinese story probably isn’t a very good option for me. 😀 Maybe I should go and search for some English version of the story. :p
