Xfactor

I’ve been following Xfactor since last year where Joe Mcelderry won. This year, Westlife’s “Safe” song brought my attention to the start of the Xfactor series again. Currently, they are now down to the top 7 including One Direction (Simon Cowell), Wagner & Mary Bryne (Louis Walsh), Matt Cardle (Danni Minogue), Cher Llyod, Rebecca Ferguson & Katie Waissel (Cheryl Cole) – the ones in the brackets are the judges/mentors. Xfactor has a unique system where they put the contestants in groups (mainly groups, over 28’s, boys and girls) and under a judge as their mentor. So, it isn’t only a competition among the contestants but also the judges as well. I think it’s quite cool although sometimes I feel it’s biased or sometimes even embarassing when the contestant doesn’t sing well yet the judge still sings praises about them just because they are their mentor and don’t want to cause any rift between them and the contestants.

My favourite is definitely Matt Cardle. He kind of reminds me of Lee Dewyze (American Idol winner), probably because both of them were painters. Their voices are definitely different from each other’s though. Matt’s is higher pitched and he frequently sings girls’ songs. Although recently he has shown that he can sing low toned voices as well. I think he is just a brilliant singer. My favourite performance of his:-

I also like Cher Lloyd since her good audition. Sometimes, she can be brilliant. But, other times, I’m not a big fan. I would like to see Cher going against Matt in the finals but I predict it will be One Direction against Matt instead. One Direction is a boy band who sometimes can sing well but they just don’t have that charm for me. Can’t compare them to Westlife. :p Also, another singer worth mentioning is Rebecca Ferguson, who supposedly has a different class in her voice. Yeah I admit that her voice sounds good probably on radio but like Danii said she can’t just stand there in the middle of the stage everytime she sings her song. I’m surprised that the other judges like Simon Cowell hasn’t pointed out her stage performance yet so far. He did point out Joe Mcelderry’s “lack of stage performance” last time. Of course, Joe performed well after that critisicm. That was like Week 2 if I’m not wrong. But, now it’s like Week 8 and Rebecca has been standing in the middle stage for so many weeks now. Oh well, not a fan of her. Matt all the way!!! =)

Another loss to Lin Dan by Chong Wei at the Asian Games finals in Guangzhou. At 21-13, 15-21 and 21-10. I just want to say that it was a thoroughly entertaining and exciting match to watch. I don’t deny that Lin Dan might be better than Chong Wei. But, I can say that these 2 athletes are one class above the rest in men’s singles. When I watch both of them play against each other, it’s just like watching 2 Gods playing. The quality and variety in their matches are just outstandingly amazing. Well, I think that these 2 players will be around on the circuit for some time more and soon they’ll be replaced of course. Hopefully, Malaysia’s backup players can rise up faster and set the new generation of great badminton players. Same goes for Malaysia’s men’s doubles. Whatever it is, winning and losing is part of the game. We can’t always win forever. But, we can always support the team forever. To me, supporting them whether win or lose is what is most important. Through thick and thin, I will always support you, Malaysian Badminton Team. Malaysia Boleh!!!

A silver for Chong Wei

Charming

Have you ever came across some people who just do something (an action) and you find it so charming that you think about it over and over again? Of course, you get over it sooner or later. But, at that moment you just feel such a nice feeling. 🙂 Well, so far recently, I have encountered 3 cases like this. The first two are real people that I met that just put a smile onto my face. And, the 3rd is a lady actress that I happened to watch on Youtube.

She’s the lady teacher in uniform talking to the boy. Just got attracted to her personality. That’s how I find people charming. After further research (thanks to Jian Yong), I found out that she was actually Miss Thailand 2001. Haha, my taste is not bad as well. Well, hope to encounter more charming people in the future. In the meantime, I will be stalking her for now. A picture of her:-

Oh yeah by the way, recently have been caught up with all the badminton action in Asian Games and I’ve been flooding my FB with updates and links for streaming and so on. =) KKK-TBH lost narrowly to Indonesia. They really put up a great fight. Seriously, almost had a heart attack but it was a good match to watch. And, Chong Wei is going to meet Lin Dan in the finals tomorrow. Hope he will at least put up a good fight too or win it hopefully. All the best Chong Wei!!!

Chong Wei

Well, til next post then. =)
